589's on a 300ex HELP
#1
I hate getting my 300ex stuck all the time, don't you? Where I ride it is mostly 4x4 stuff, and I get hung up alot. So I was thinking of putting some 25x12x12 Titan 589 M/T's on my back end.... would this hurt my quad? My whole rear end is LoneStar so I think that will help it out. What else will wear out,, and I might need to replace? THANKS ALOT FOR THE HELP.

I would put holeshots xct's all the around it will not help a lot but it is an all around tire start rideing with someone who has a 4x4 just in case you do keep getting stuck.

589s are incredible mud tires. They are more of a 4x4 kind of tire. You can certainly put them on the a$$ end of your bike with no prob but you WILL loose speed and some power. The 589s pull really hard and are tough to stick on a 4x4, but on your bike I would go with a little less aggressive tire to keep the power and speed. If you want to stay with ITP, try the 489s. They are still great for traction, mud, and speed but won't bog down your engine like the 589s will. Don't get me wrong, I run 589's on all of my bikes(4x4s), but on my 325 I noticed a definate power loss. The bike is still awesome in the mud and rarely gets stuck. 589s in my opinion are for serious mud and not for 2x4 bikes. If you do decide on the 589s, go with 24" to keep your power up.
By the way, go with the 589 AT not MTs. The ATs are a harder compound and wear slower than the MTs.

Mud bogging with a 300EX is kind of like trying to cut a 2x4 with a ballpeen; wrong tool for the job. Changing to 25" tires (assuming they'll clear the fenders) will take away what little quickness you have, and climbing will be out of the question. There's no getting around the fact that two wheel drive sport quads are terrible for deep mud or snow.

I run super swamper TSL's & they make a great BIG difference in the mud!Unless it is real deep mud you will be able to go most anywhere the 4wd's goes.About 5% of the time you will need 4wd the other 95% of the time your 300ex will do great. The 300 is lighter witch helps go places easier than the 4wd's.Don't let people tell you it won't go,just try it.

thanks for the replies....i am gonna run stock tires from now on. But I have another question...im fixing to enter in a "mudd bogg" in the 2x4 division... do you think that the Titans will help me whip every other 2wd out there?? I already have the tires on hand...so i don't need to spend any money. Thanks again.

As long as you have the tires on hand, I say go for it. The 589s will do well in the mud if you have the power to use them correctly. You will get beat by anyone with paddles that knows how to ride them.
