Now when I am driving turning to the left or the right it makes a sound like gears are grinding, like on a shift ATV when you hit in between gears, or on a polaris when you rev it up then go to Drive or something. Any idea about what is happening here? Also when stuck it does the same sound. Think I got a lemon ATV?

 

I have had that sound when turning to the left but it hasnt done it for a while.

 

EEK, thats a horrific sound! Have you shift linkage checked as maybe when you turn it trys to take it out of gear or something? I dunno, but thats a major sound

 

I dont think that could be the problem because the Rubi doesnt actually have gears, it has a swash plate.

 

Is it possible it's coming out of the front diff?

 

Yes that is a pssiblity. That is what i thought te first time i heard it.

 

actually the Rubi has alot of actual gears in the sub transmission (hi-low range) and Rubiconland had his fail on him with nasty sounds. Your right though, front diff would be more logicial.

 

How would he check the front diff. to see if its messed up?

 

The first thing I would do is check your front differential fluid. I would suspect with the noises you are hearing either the fluid is contaminated (water and/or mud) or there is no fluid in there.

 

Hey TexMud thanx for what you just said that helps alot last week me and AtomicAustin went to his lease and went cruzin in water over the fenders. I will drain it and buy some new oil for it anyway now.
