this may be the dumbest question I've ever asked... but here it goes anyway...

I have heard of quads that are "on the bottle" running NOS, I guess...

well... I'm sure they are all built-to-the-hilt in the first place, and probably don't even need nitrous...

but what would happen if you installed the smallest HP-increasing NOS system available on a stock 4-stroke (Raptor, EX, DS, Cannibal, Z400, etc.)??? if that's even possible

that way, you could run stock or with just bolt-ons for reliablity, yet have like 20 extra horses if so needed to smoke most tweaked-out quads... theoretically of-course

dsapp,
i dont think it is a stupid question at all! but i cant answer it for ya, wish i could. i would think you would probibally burn out the valves or something of that nature, but i will be waiting for an answer right with ya. too take it one step farther, would it be possible on a 4x4 quad like the new grizzly???

I have 125 shot of nitrous on my mustang so i've had experience with it(by the way NOS doesn't mean nitrous, its just a brand name) and you could run a small shot of nitrous on a stock quad motor without doing any damage at all, but a 20 horse shot on a quad isn't a small shot, especially on a motor that was only designed to produce 25-35 horse in stock form, you couuld probabbly run a 5 to 10 shot without any problems, but you could get this same power from a pipe, filter, and cam or high compression piston.

you do not want to have a rev limiter on a bike that has nitrous. your rev limiter cuts your spark, but the nitro is still being shot into the cylinder, this is bad!! BOOM!!
One thing, it is good to have STRONG valve springs in your motor to prevent the valves from floating (caused by over reving with no limiter)
Nitrous will not hurt your motor if used properly, but oun the other hand it's very un-forgiving.
25hp shot on a single cylinder motor is the same as a 200hp shot on a V8!
I hope this helps!
