Honda 300 4x4 - Help me do it up
#1
Hey sometime soon i plan on doin some mods to my old but well kept up bike. It's a 88 Honda 300 4x4. It's been through just about everything, and nothing major has had to be replaced on it yet. Oil changes were almost done monthly, everythign cleaned, blah blah.
Anyways, i figured the first mod i was goin to do was to get A new set of performance shocks for it. The shocks on it now are really old and well don't offer a good soft ride like a new bike would. Also i think i need to replace my rear axle.
The Mods which i have done to it now are slim, i only have a Cobra exchaust on it now. I'm open to anything, try to list the most important easy and most effiective mods first. Also price and cheap Canadian websites were i can order this stuff. thanks alot

If your going to get new shocks, I'd recommend the Works Steelers. They are great shocks, and not all that expensive compared to other alternatives. I think you can get the front set for right around $300. You could also check on ebay...it seems people are always parting out slightly used stock equipment. I replaced an axle on a Yamaha Wolverine not too long ago. I went with the Durablue Eliminator Axle. I'm not sure how much I paid, but I know I bought it through Carbide's Motoworld. <www.motoworld.com> They had the best price by at least $30 at the time. A cheap upgrade would be to get the K&N Power Kit, and you might consider getting your compression checked. It may be time for a new piston and rings. I dunno....those are the things that I would do.

Unfortunatly, by the time you convert the price for Works shocks into Canadian dollars it won't really be worth it to put them on an old Honda 300. THere's not much you can do, other than tires and maybe a jet kit that won't be too much money.
If the quad is in good, clean condition, then your best bet is to sell it. For some inexplicable reason 4x4 quads hold their value better than gold almost everywhere in Canada, Newfoundland especially. In good shape you'll get more for that quad than it cost brand new.
The downside is, new quads aren't cheap either. But almost anything you can buy would be an improvement.
