a friend of mine is looking at both quads and wants to know the pros and cons of each. Thanks in advance for all the help toward his decision.

The rancher cannot compare to the Wolverine in speed. Honda's quality is undeniable though. I have real good luck with my Wolverine, but I have known others that have had problems. The rancher is still kind of new, so I don't know any long time tests. If possible test drive both.

I don't know much about the two quads but if your friend likes resale value he better go with the Honda..The name sells itself.

There is should be no question that the Rancher is the way to go .. I have one and could not be happier with any other quad.. I have yet to read a bad review on them, I challenge you to find someone with a rancher that is unhappy with it.

If you want to go fast and jump the wolverine is the only choice. I have ridden both and the yammie can run with a 400EX. the Rancher is much more fun in trails and hunting. both are great but this is the tie breaker
Speed and jumps= wolverine
4x4 and grunt power= rancher

I agree with JRM. I just got my Rancher and am very happy with it for what I do with a quad. I use it 50% of the time for utility purposes and 50% for trail riding. If I were to buy a quad for speed and jumping I would have considered others. But, for all around use I chose the Rancher.

I agree, I have had my Rancher for 6 weeks. I love it. It has plenty of power for big tires and such. There are pics at my site if you want to see it lifted.

The Wolverine is 40 lbs lighter,22cc larger,7 inches of wheel travel front and back, disks brakes and 10 mph faster(60 vs 50 mph). The Honda is more of a utlity bike with a larger size and more room and has the smartest limited differencal slip anyone has ever seen with the front wheel with the most tracktion getting the power as to Yamaha,s where the wheel with the least tracktion gets the power(not good).

just so everyone knows, the Rancher actually has over an inch more of ground clearance on the Wolverine. I will agree that the Wolverine is a faster machine but that is about as far as it goes, the rancher has the better front diff., electronic shifting, nice floorboards, more clearance . . .all in all a great machine.
