Can the 400ex do just as good as the Raptor in jumping or worse?

They both jump well. The Raptor has a more equal weight distribution (46%front and 54%rear), so rider weight has to be more towards the rear of the atv for level jumping.

so the suspension is pretty close on both of them? What is the weight distribution on the 400ex?

Since the 400EX has good suspension and it's wider it's a better jumper, it's lower center of gravity also gives it an edge over the Raptor. The 400EX is either the second best or best jumper ever made, the Raptor is maybe the 4th or so.

It depends on your style, some say the 400EX is #1 jumper and some like me will say the 250R is #1 jumper it's all in what you like better 2 stroke or 4, plus the 250R is a it lighter so bit gets my vote. But like I said it's personal prefrance.

i also think the 400 jumps better than raptors. but in all fairness i'm really used to my 400 and haven't had too much seat time on raptors.

I think that in a stock comparison I would also put the 400 on top. The Raptor feels top heavy compared to the 400 and I think that the 400 is a little lighter then the Raptor.
If you do much jumping you'll want to look in to after market shocks, a-arms, and swingarm.
I can't keep my 400ex on the ground. It flys better then any machine that I have been on, But I'd have to place the C-dale a very close second.

Come on, best jumper, hands down the 250R, it only weighs 328 pounds, no other quad can even come close to that weight. That makes it's power to weight ratio by far the best. It's the best balanced quad ever built so combine light weight, best power to weight ratio and the best balanced quad, you have your hands down winner!!
