How many hours do you have on that pipe?? Does it have a USFS spark arrestor?? Is it really loud? I'm trying to get a pipe that won't get me any noise tickets in the Oregon Dunes. The limit is 93 dB down there, but I can get away with 95 or 96 if I play it safe around the sound check truck.

chad400ex, I asked them about the spark arrestor and that they said it was not approved yet and that they have not heard of anyone getting kicked out of any riding places while using their S/A. It's only a screwdriver test anyways. But the pipe probably won't pass the noise test, but I don't think you'll find a pipe coming in at 93 to 94 db. I know the t-4 is like 95 db and so is the WB I think. So just hope they are in a good mood and that they let you slide. Good luck.

To be honest with you, a full system is not going to give you much more power over a slip on. Some magazine did a test on a bunch of pipes and slip-ons and I think the biggest gain was 2.5 hp peak. Some did have up to a 5 hp gain over the lowend or midrange. Not enough to justify a $600+ price tag. If I had a 400ex I would keep the factory exhaust and do some airbox mods (more bang for the buck) or just get a slip-on. Contrary to popular belief none of these systems or slip-ons are going to give you massive power gains on their own. It may feel that way because of the noise but in reality not much more hp.

Yep, I know that the pipe alone won't do a whole lot, but I do want that extra bottom and mid-range power for climbing the steep sand dunes. I'm not looking to win any drag races, I way 215 pounds. That alone is a disadvantage in itself. I have the dynojet jet kit on the way, and I'm going to order a K&N tonight. I think I'm going to order a pipe too. I'm just going for a slip-on. I can always upgrade later on if I feel the need. I'm thinking that I'm going to go with the Fatboy 4 slip on. Just cuz it's made by Paul Turner, and sold by Duncan. Both have great reputations. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow and see what kind of deal I can get. Thanks for all the help guys.

I'm not really sure how many db's the Fatboy is putting out. My buddy has the E-series slip on on his Raptor and the Fatboy is quieter than his. Not much though. His seems to be higher pitched while the Fat Boy 4 is lower and sort of Growls. I guess I could ask Duncan and get back to you. I'll post pics as soon as I get them developed of my machine with the Fat Boy 4.
