Someone told me dish soap is a good sub for K&N brand cleaner so I did it. But what about oil?? Anything safe and effective or is it K&N brand oil or nothing?

I'm not cheap. It's just Saturday night heading into Easter Sunday and I washed the filter thinking my brother had some oil but he doesn't and I really wanted to ride on sunday. Can I find that oil at Wal-mart or some other place that would be open on Easter Sunday?? If so, problem solved....

ah, but would it be safe?? I have foam filter oil (PJ-1) for my UNI filter on my Tecate 4 but that probably would harm the K&N for my R, right?

if wal-mart etc. doesnt have anything in automotive, try in the lawn & garden section,i wouldnt imagine it would hurt anything for a days ride in non dust conditions.

over the years,i have used just about anything.pj should not harm your filter,it may be a little tougher to remove from the k&n.
