200xtra, your dealer must have been joking otherwise he is a joke. The 300EX is one of the most reliable sport machines you can buy, heck, one of the most reliable ATV's you can buy. 2 years? That's like saying a Yamaha Breeze goes 60 mph, it's not true. My brother's 93 300EX he had, which he traded for his 400EX, was very reliable. The clutch worked real well even after it was 5 years or more old. I have a 98 300EX, and the clutch works just like it was new. I probably have close to 1000 miles on it so far, and I didn't even have to adjust the chain yet! The chain is extremely stong since it doesn't have a master link, making it stronger and not as easy to stretch. I think your dealer really doesn't want you to buy that machine, does he have any other manufacturers along with Honda?

On the clutch thing, I lot depends on how you ride it. I have seen some last only a few months (on any machine) because the rider abuses it and tries to run it like a 2-stroke MX bike. Then I have seen an old Honda 3-wheelers with the stock clutch. Just depends on how you ride it.

Hey, the dealer must be a joke becouse my old 98' 300ex was put thru pure out hell for every one of its probably 50,000 miles. the only things that has wore out are brake pads, the chain, just replaced the stock chain last month!!, and sprockets. it has been flipped, dipped, rolled, wrecked, you name it. it has never been rebuilt and the clutch is still slip free. if you want durability, the lil' EX is for you.it preforms flawlessly and has never let me down. heck, the plastic even looks good still.

Let me confirm, the 300ex is one of the most reliable quads ever and is surely a lot more fun than a Wolverine. I ride a lot with a Wolverine and it is a nice quad if you need four wheel drive (although I'd probable get the Scrambler 500 instead becuase you can have 2 and 4 wheel drive), but let's face it how many out there really need four wheel drive. If you are into serious mudding consider the Wolverine, if not, get the 300ex, you'll have a much better time. Good luck.

200xtra, ok, that makes sense now that you said your dealer has more than just Honda. I would imagine the dealer wants you to buy the more expensive machine you're looking at, but buy the one you want.
