ATV tax write off
#1
Anybody have any luck writing your ATV off your taxes as a working tool or farm equipment? My tax man thinks it will send up a red flag with the IRS , you have to prove it’s a working tool for your business. How in the %&#@ do you do that!! You can write off a million dollar boat, but not a couple of ATVs. I don’t get it.

I have maybe a hundred customers or more who use ATVs on farms and have no problem using them as tax write offs. However, I don't know much about this end of the business spectrum, so I have no idea how you go about getting it done. I know most farmer's just take receipts with them when they have their taxes done. Maybe you do the same with ATVs. I don't know.
They do the same thing with parts and repair bills. Even an oil filter!! I know, because this time every year, I get them calling me asking to print up copies of receipts that they lost.

LOL. Nothing like a last minute man! You better hustle! Taxes gotta be in tomorrow unless you filed an extension.
It all depends on how you bought it. If you registered it as a farm or business vehicle, you can write it off. If not, gotta pay it.
KNOWSALOT, I was chatting with a guy at our local yamma dealer the other day, and he said a guy tried to come in and get a PWC farm exempt! He claimed he used it to feed his fish! I almost died laughing.
