300EX race setups???

I know that this question has been beat to death but I can't search the topics and find out exactly what I need to know. The folks that run at my local MX track are amatuers with no major mods done to their quads. Mostly run 400EX's. They don't outrun me that bad considering my 300EX is only 2 months old with no mods at all. I know most power gains are done through the engine. That's not the route I want to go just yet. What do you guys have. I know I'm gonna get a UNI filter, 20 inch Hole-Shots, and run with my air box lid off. What pipe and jet combos do you guys run. If the pipe is adjustable, how many discs do you run. But remember I don't want to go into the engine just yet. I ride pretty well now, just need a little more for the straights. Please be specific your help is GREATLY appreciated!! Also what is this about removing the choke from the carb. What do you do and what does it do? Thanx

I dont know how your track is set up, but before engine modifications I would get some stronger shocks and holeshot front tires before rear. The traction is much more important in the front. Suspension up front will help you stay smooth in the whoops. If power is more important have at it. A weisco high comp. piston and cam will help you out alot.

like ol' Lovey said, suspension in the front, if you can afford it, all out suspension, a-arms, swingarm, shocks, all the goodies. for the motor, i normally wouldnt go with a DG, but i think that they give the most power for the 300ex. i was runnin a K&N, no air box lid, D7 plug, DG Steel full exhaust, and a 152 jet. gave me enough power to beat stock 400ex's, and i could keep up with most at least.

Wider is better buddy. Get yourslelf a set of 400EX or 250R A-Arms for cheap. I've set my 250X up for MX, if you have any questions e-mail me stoaste@yahoo.com

don't go with the 400 arms, they only give you about +1 overall and the ball joints get in a bind at full extension, and nobody likes broken a arms. the best way to go find some used laeger arms on the net

Check out my website www.geocities.com/quadracr28 for information on a lot of the mods your looking at getting. The website is still in progress, so please excuse me if some of the links don't work yet.
