I have been looking to get a 400EX for about 2 months now but I started reading up on the Z400. They have the same MSRP but the Z400 is suppose to much quicker, liquid cooled, and reverse. Would you buy a quad that came out the first year? I am a Honda man but the Z400 is looking pretty good. What do you guys think?

Ive heard suzuki are reliable also so the question is can you wait a little while to get a Z400 cause that would be my pick in a heartbeat. The Z400 will have problems though so be careful, just look at the 700 from polaris it was its first year and was falling apart.

The problems are what I am worried about. The 400EX has been proven true but the specs on the Z400 are nice. Z400 has 11.3:1 compared to 400EX 9.0:1 and the raptors 9.2:1. Will this cause severe engine problems down the road? I am very anxious to see if this quad is everything that people are talking about.

like what was posted in the Suzuki forum, go to www.suzuki.ca for a press release on the Z400. Suzuki flew all the magazine writer's over to Japan to ride the Z400 and at the Canadian site they give their ride impressions and such...

Well how many probs are there with the z400 bike? it is the same motor.
If i could afford a new bike right now I would get the z in a heartbeat.
If you are that concerned about problems, get the extended warranty and ride the pi$$ out of it for the first six months.

I wouldn't worry about the reliability to much. I don't think the first 400ex's had to many problems there first year out either. The C-dales, Raptors, and even the 700 Polaris, had problems because they didn't spend enough time on their product. Hell, I think c-dale spent 14 months on the entire thing... motor, frame, ergonomics... and that is why the first year products had problems. Same w/ the polaris and Raptor and most any other first year quad, but I think that Suzuki has been workin on this for quite a while and since the motor is already there, they just spent most of the time on the frame and handling manners. Go for the Z400

I agree with Yo on this one. Think about it, Suzuki made some serious mistskes witht he Ealry quadracer's. I know they don't want a repeat of that. Another thing, they've probably been working on this quad for 3 years, getting everything worked out. If you look at the specs, it's either the same as, or better than the EX, which is probably the best handling quad out there, RIGHT NOW(other than the Moto). I would go with the Zuki also if I were you. If I could I would buy it, but I'd rather have my soon to come C-Dale.

Suzuki has had years and years to see what works and what doesn't with their ATV's and other company's. With all the rides out right now and their previous machines they can see where the most stress has been on the bikes and what to do about it. Sure the early LT's had their problems but they were the first high performance ATV's ever made, not much to compare them to. I think Suzuki should make a pretty flawless run with the Z400, there may be a little something here and there but nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the help everyone. I called the dealer today and I am on the waiting list for a Z. He said it would be about 2 or 3 weeks. Can't wait to see what it will do. Is there a pipe for it yet?
