Is $1500 a good price for a 86trx250r?
#2
This all depends on how good of shape it is and what aftermarket parts are on it. Is it set up for cross country or motocross? Is the cylinder ported? What kind of pipe is on it? What kind of shocks, swingarm, a-arms are on it? Does it still have the stock reed cage? What bore is it? How are the bearings and bushings? Is the frame in decent shape? Most importantly, how does it run? For a 250R, I guess you can't expect a lot for this price. I bought my '86 in September and it was set up for MX. They wanted $3500 for it and I ended up paying $3100 for it. The main place to look for cracks in the frame, is between the right side footpeg and the upper frame rail. Also, take all the fenders off if you can, and check the rear of the frame. Check around the steering stem mounts and also check the motor mounts. Check the front shock mounts. Also, set the quad on the grab bar and make sure the bottoms of the engine cases have not been busted and fixed. Good luck.
