I NEED A 300EX MOTOR
#1
MY FRIEND HAS A 98 300EX WITH A DESTROYED ENGINE. HE WAS LOOKING TO BUY A WHOLE NEW ENGINE BUT IS HAVING TROUBLE FINDING ONE. I WAS WONDERING IF ANY OF YOU GUYS WOULD HAVE OR KNOW WHERE WE COULD GET ONE THAT IS IN GOOD CONDITION. WE FOUND AN ADD IN ATV MAGAZINE FOR EAST COAST ATV, THEY HAVE THEM FOR ABOUT $1,400 USED. I WAS ALSO WONDERING IF ANY OF YOU HAVE ORDERED OR DEALT WITH THEM BEFORE WE GO AND ORDER AN ENGINE FROM THEM. WE WOULD HATE TO BUY A JUNK ENGINE AND BE STUCK WITH IT. THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU COULD PROVIDE US WITH.

DON'T YOU THINK THAT WOULD BE MORE EXPENSIVE? I THINK IT WOULD. HE DOESN'T WANT TO DEAL WITH ALL THE MODIFICATIONS, HE JUST WANTS TO PUT THE NEW ENGINE AND GO.BESIDES THE 300 ENGINE WOULD BE AT LEAST SIX YEARS NEWER. AS FOR FASTER I HAD A 300 WITH A WHITE BROS. CAM IN IT AND I OUT RAN THE 350X, AND IT ONLY COST'S THREE HUNDRED BUCKS IF YOU DO ALL THE WORK YOURSELF.

Did you consider replacing the bottom cases, it might be cheaper and you will have all new parts, and the same engine. If it seized you might be ahead by buying a new engine, considering the work that would be involved with ripping down the engine, and getting all the bearing out of the old case, and putting it in the new one. I recommend if you do decide to rip the engine down to have a service manual, not the owner's manual that tells you nothing about ripping the engine down, and a torque wrench, so when you are done you have a quad that will run correctly.
