For me, the Z doesn't offer a significant enough increase in either power or handling over the EX, to make me want to run out and get one. Economically, it just would not be worth it. But, if I was starting from scratch, I WOULD probably pick the Z.

I'm waiting for something that is a QUANTUM LEAP over the 400, like 650EX (I'm hoping) or a DS Baja (if I get desperate enough waiting for a new Honda). The new bike would become the desert machine, and the 400 would go back to being a trail bike.

 

if you had $10,000 to waste.... you could build a turbo DS650 BAJA.... it could have around 80HP, now THAT would be my pick, for a state-of-the-art machine!

but I guess the BAJA is a mild enough quad for dependability and everyday use... but wild enough to hang in the desert

 

The only problem is these fast a$$ four wheelers are to exspensive
