I have a chance to trade a 99recon for a 96 300ex.Would that be a good trade for me?The thing is I weight about 220lbs.,I really want a sport quad.Is the 300 going to be to small for a guy my size to have some real fun on?My 10yr. old som has a 250ex that I really like to play. And please tell me that I will be able to smoke him!

The 300 will certainly pull you weight, but height is important too. I am 5'7" and 180 lbs. The 300 fits me ok, but if I was any bigger or the bike was any smaller, it would be pushing it. Ride the bike to see how you like it!!

You will smoke him and it should fit you quite fine depending on height. If you want more info on it say so.

I'm about 5ft.9in.I got a chance to ride it.To tell you the truth I was not that impressed compared to the 250ex.But it did have like 25-25in.tires that were hard at rocks on the back.and the place I got ride it was in there back yard with them watching.I couldn't really open in up.It did seem to be all stock. With some easy add ons could it run with400ex,warroir,blaster,400scram.?

I run 20" tires on the rear (22 is stock), and this effectively lowers the gearing for more trail riding grunt. A header (stock is way small), muffler, and K&N really perked our 300 up. My 400 was down last weekend, so I had to ride the 300 at Glamis. Had no trouble holding my own while riding with a Banshee, Warrior, and a Polaris 400 2-stroke (don't know what it's called).

You mentioned the 250EX. The one place the 300 has it way over the 250 is SUSPENSION! The 250 has kind of warmed over utility suspension, but the 300 has REAL sport bike suspenders.

I am 6'2 and i fit my 300ex just fine. You should have no problem keeping up with the blaster and the warrior, but you can't run with a 400 hahahaha.
