CANNIBALvsRAPTORvsDSvsEX - theoretical drag race results!
#1
The Cannondale brochure which is based on a SuperFlow dyno (not a DynoJet which yeilds higher numbers)test says the Cannibal has 33 HP, also says the 400ex has 21, Raptor has 28, and DS has 37. It also says the Moto & Blaze are 39HP (results of a pipe and FI mapping) so for all intensive purposes they are "piped" Cannibals, and you can't really "pipe" a Moto or a Blaze
now, lets do a theoretical comparison...
fact: dirtwheels "piped" a Raptor for a 34% increase in HP
fact: piping a Cannibal yeilds an 18% increase in HP
fact: dirtwheels "piped" a 400EX for a 2HP increase
assumption: based on the Bomb forum, a piped DS yeilds 2HP as well
using the SuperFlow dyno numbers...
that would give a "piped" 400EX 23HP & a ptw ratio of 0.0615
&
that would give a "piped" DS650 39HP & a ptw ratio of 0.0821
&
that would give a "piped" Raptor 38HP & a ptw ratio of 0.0952
&
that would give a "piped" Cannibal 39HP & a ptw ratio of 0.1040

mathmatically, that means all of the following scenerios would be EQUAL in a drag race:
a "piped" 400EX with a 120lb. rider
a "piped" DS650 with a 264lb. rider
a "piped" Raptor with a 324lb. rider
a "piped" Cannibal with a 364lb. rider
just food for thought...

Interesting and useful data. One fo the assumptions as far as the drag racing is that they all have nice flat powerbands. Anything that is peaky is not going to accelerate as well, remember when accelerating you are going thru the powerband in each gear and the area under the curve dictates how much potential you have. On a sidenote, with a CVT you are always at peak HP, assuming the clutch is tuned right. When I get another quad (shhh don't tell the wife) I would rather have the raptor or DS because of the larger displacement. Any mods done to a larger motor will usually result in more power than a small one.
