That's as good of a deal as you're going to get. She'll only make about 50 to 100 bucks on that sale. I got mine for $5250, and the dealer acted like I was going to put him into the poorhouse. I would jump on that price. You can spend the money you saved on aftermarket goodies. See my signature for what I did to my 400EX.

sale price for a 400ex in natchez(great river honda) is $5199, that was last month when i got my 250ex. but that is a pretty good deal. if you know anyone in brookhaven that is interested in buying a 250ex let me know. i want to get a 400ex or a faster bike myself.. the 250ex is a nice bike but i want to get a bike with more power....just my .02 cents but i would wait until the suzuki z400 comes out before you get the ex the z400 is "suppose" to be better than the ex at about the same price.

You should also go with a new filter, K&N, Pro Design, etc. I wouldn't go into the motor right away. The magazines make it sound like a piece of cake when moding out, sure sometimes it may be but for most there will be some sort of complication. My timing looked perfect on my 300 but when we put the tensioner on it caused it to rotate enough just to get off. You will try to get those little valve cover bolts just a liitle bit tighter the pop head of the bolt comes off or you stripped the threads out of the soft aluminum head. You might have better luck than I did if you have a shop do it though, but for now I would just go with a good pipe, filter and jet kit, and maybe the CDI.

I have a couple of people at the honda shop that are pretty knowledgable about putting that sort of stuff is. fact is that several of my riding buds have 400's also and I dont want them to stand a chance, a raptor is too high priced and there are too many restrictions on 'shees around my home, thus im gettin a 400. how much is involved in the 416 kit ( how much $ and how much performance? ) thanks!
chad400ex,
how do you like the Yoshi-slip on? a friend of mine has a DG and it is plainly too loud for me. Is the yosh really loud? thanks again!

Yup, thart's a sweet deal you're gettin'. I'm still trying to find help on which aftermarket stuff too. Though, if you race motocross, or ride fast, then you might want to focus more on the chassis, instead of the motor. If you're a dune rider, than those mods will be fine.
