Congrats on your new purchase.

You might not have the most powerful ATV available, but you have the one that has a little bit of the best "everything". You can never go wrong with the 400EX.

Most customers of mine get the airfiler, air box lid, pipe, and nerfs as their first upgrades.

You really don't need any more than that unless you plan to race MX.

Woods racers usually just get the nerfs and bumpers and leave it at that.

I know that 400EX's top the Top5 list at the Hare Scramble races that I attend.

Good luck with your newest ride, and keep everyone here informed on your modifications.

Mxz, what kind of riding do you like, and do mostly? If so, hre's what you should get: desert; FMF powercore4 w/ powerbomb headpipe( That's what I think), full chassis, and swingarm skids( I heard that ricochet makes good skids that are just as good as DG, but cost less.), K&N air filter and jet kit, DG alloy bumper, 6-ply tires( I'd choose razrs), handguards( maier atv handguards-$25.00. You can get all those at www.rockymountainatv.com. Shocks( works triplerate fronts, quadstar rear), swingarm(maybe), steering dampener. You can get all those at www.motojoe.com. Trails; everything but the steering dampener. Dunes: every engine upgrade you can get your hands on, paddles. Motocross: everything as desert, and a-arms, axle, swingarm. Hope this helps.

Here is the order that I have went with. I use the machine primarily for woods riding with a little sand dunes thrown in.

First mod - Trail tech speedometer. I am not concerned about how fast I am going, just how far for fuel reasons.

Second mod - Pro Circuit T-4 pipe and rejet main jet to 155. Gives the bike a lot more throttle response which is important to me for woods riding.

Third mod - AC Racing Pro Peg Nerf bars - Provide protection against slipping off the footpegs and helps protect the rear axle some.

This is as far as I have got. If you are like me, you have more things than just your quad to spend money on (truck, house, wife, etc.) Here are my next mods:

Skidplate for underbody and new tires (not that there is anything wrong with the stock tires, they are just getting worn).

You kind of have to decided what your needs are and go from there depending on your own cash flow.
