The intake on my 300 has gotten a dimple in it. The K&N filter slips over a plastic collar and is beginning to collapse it form the pressure of the band that holds the filter in place.

Don't the 250R and 300EX have the same airbox?? The reason I ask is, I remember seeing advertised somewhere (for the 250R) an aluminum ring you can insert inside the air intake to keep it form colapsing when you use an air filter that clamps around the outside. Anybody using this, or remember seeing it anywhere?? I think maybe I saw it in the James Lucky catalog??

 

250R and 300EX airboxs are totaly different.
