I was wondering what is better because I am trying to trade my Rancher for a Polaris 325.

Stick with your Rancher. I'm not a Polaris basher, but every article I've read on the 325 says it's terribly overweight, and grossly underpowered. If you do trade, you'll find yourself spending more time greasing all the zerks on the 325 than you'll spend riding it.

I have to laugh about that one. I actually own one so my review is not based on what the rags say. I believe I only have 8 zerks on my quad which are easy to access and I only grease them about once every 3 months. The machine has plenty of power, for pulling logs, bolders whatever you want. It is very tough as well, it has been rolled many times and I haven't bent anything or broken anything. It has been a great machine, it does weigh a lot, but I don't notice it. Overall it's a great machine.

yep, stick with the rancher. A recon is faster in a drag race, and the mag 325 2x4 my friend ownes has had more than it's share of problems.

Recon is faster? I think you must be confused, I raced my buddy's 250 ex and it wasn't close. But I don't know of anyone that has had problems with this machine, or any magnum for that matter. I can't say to pick either one, both are fine machines, ride both and see what you like.

It was in our race, but now that I think about it, my recon isn't exactilly stock. Still wasn't too far off.

Go with the Rancher. Last night my friend and I went riding (he on his Polaris 325 and I on my '85 Big Red 250 ATC) and while we were riding in a creek he buried it. The water was about 4 inches deep over sandy mud and unless he used his rev-override button it wouldn't even spin the tires. He told me it was gutless, but I didn't realize it was that bad until I saw it with my eyes. We finally man-handled it sideways out of the holes he dug (I had chained up to him to try to pull him out but I just dug into the mud) and then I had to tow him up out of the creek back onto the trail. Actually this is the 2nd time I've had to tow him with my Big Red. The other time was this winter with about 9 inches of snow on the ground when he blew off an oil line and burned up his motor (a known problem, according to Polaris). Hopefully I'll be selling my Big Red in a couple days, but I'm planning on getting a '95 Honda TRX300 4x4 from a guy for $2200 including a snow plow if I can get the loan ok, only cuz I can't afford a Rancher!
