Instead of locking a thread, why not just delete the specific posts that are causing problems. I'm sure if someone started a p!ss match in my post, I would be mad,and if someone had useful info pertaining to my topic, they couldn't post in that thread. Just a thought...

 

We make our decision on a case by case basis. If the bulk of the thread is okay then we delete the individual messages that are a problem. If there are so many bad messages that it's too much work to clean them up, then we'll delete the thread
