I am planning on doing this mod myself soon. I don't know how loud it will be, or what gains to expect, but I have heard that you will need to rejet. Your only other alternative for pipes is the Supertrapp IDS-2.

What I've always thought about doing is picking up a WB E-Series universal silencer. It's cheaper, a better pipe than the FMF or Supertrapp, and shouldn't take much if any modification to install since it has adjustible hangers on it. That's the route I was going to go with my recon before I decided to sell it.

You won't really see a great improvement with just a silencer, the Hondas run such a tiny little pipe from the factory, the restriction would not let you get full benefit from the silencer. You will definately see a good power pick up with a pipe/silencer combo. I personally like the Supertrap IDS, having the discs inside keeps the mud and crud out of the spaces between the discs. The silencer choice is yours to make, but I would definately get a pipe also,to get every last bit of power available.

A little trick you can do to increase airflow with the headpipe is to take it off, and grind down the little lip on the inside of the headpipe where it meets the head.

Alright, whenever you take off your headpipe, look inside the pipe where it meets the engine. There will be a little "lip" inside the pipe. This serves no purpose except restriction. So, I took a die-grinder and smoothed this out and polished it up to a mirror finish. Make sure you blow all the metal shavings out of the pipe then. Rember, a restricion right at the begining of the exhaust system robs more power then one at the end.
