does any body know the specs on the xr400 cam?i know it will drop right into the 400ex.but is it a better cam than the stock 400ex cam?i called 2 honda dealers and they dont know.i want to put another cam in but hate to spend $170.00 for a w/b and give them my old cam, if a xr400 one would be close on preformance, and only cost $130.00 from honda

I also would like that question answered. I put in the 440 kit and would like to put in the XR400 cam but don't know there would be any difference in power.

knowing white bros, they are probably selling the xr400 cam as their own. They did something similar with the xr250 cdi if I remember correctly.

stroker speed says that the best cam for the 400 engine is the honda in house race cam part # 14000-nkk-000. this is the best piece for motocross. they did a once over on the old xr 400 and got great results

I read some where that the XR400 cam makes more HP less torque than the EX cam they did a profile to better move the heavier EX down low and that is the difference in the cams. So you loose some grunt for top end like any other cam swap. But the H onda R acing C ???? stuff is sweet.

Thats funny because I talked to a buddy of mine who works for a honda dealer and he said the rockers and springs in the 400 are just like the ones in the xr. Ive got the Xr cam in my 400 and love it. If the xr and the 400 have the same components, why would you have to harden the rockers?

Hopr this helps

Does installing an aftermarket cam in a 00 400ex produce a noticeable power gain? If so what does a new cam cost? What is a good one to look at? Is it worth the money? I have already installed an FMF MegaMax II pipe, K&N filter, jets, and adjusted the throttle. and this in it self was pretty killer. But not quit fast enough...
