250R vs BANSHEE

garyc660R - What an override transmission does is let you shift the gears under full power with ever having to use the clutch. Just like the pro-stock cars in NHRA. You see the only time you need to pull in the clutch is when you are sitting at the start line waiting for someone to flag. Them boom, with the throttle pinned you dump the clutch and click, click, click, through the gears so fast not having to slap the clutch lever. You just leave everyone behind. All the fast alcohol drag banshees in the dunes run the override trans. Hope I answered you question.
Roostking - my R is setup for drag racing. You wouldn't stand a chance

A stock Banshee is no where close to 48 horse and a stock R is nowhere close to 38.
A raptor beats a banshee and it only has 36 horsepower and it is 20 pounds heavier than the shee. I think I have seen the Shee's stock dyno somewhere at like 34-35 horsepower. And a stock Powervalve LT (1987-1992) is a very good race against a shee stock for stock.(I have raced many)
And the fricken R is the slowest of the 250's. My quadracer stock is like 32-33 flywheel hp and it is faster than an R stock for stock. My guess for the R horsepower is like maybe 30. They also did a mint 1988 250r race versus the 400ex back when it came out. The R beat the EX by 3 lengths in a 300ft drag. Again putting it at around 30 hp...compared to the 27-28 for EX.

Z400man, Trapperb1 said that these are numbers at the flywheel - he is correct and you are wrong (again). Before you decide to slam somebody's post take a moment to read it a little closer. It seems that most of your posts of are of this nature anyway.
There's a saying; "It's better to keep quiet and have people think you are an idiot than open your mouth and remove all doubt." I'm not saying you're an idiot - that would be inappropriate. I am saying that if you want to gain anybody's respect for your opinions on here take a moment and think before you post. There are people who have been on these forums a long time and have gained the respect of their peers here and there are people who have made a few posts and have permanently lost the respect of their peers. Which do you want to be?
I'm done with my rant for the day.

vilnrk-the pro wedges hook up awesome in the dirt. But you do a lot of dune riding.your Right drag racing is awesome.I want to see a pic of your awesome R.If you can e-mail me one that would be cool.It might take about 4 days to get you a pic,I have no idea how to e-mail you one?If you could tell me how I could put one on the forum.
My banshee now is not as awesome as the one were fixin up.My best pass on my banshee now is about a 4:7 in 100 yards.you need to come out to the dirt drags one day

250r's were awesome machines, from what I've heard & read. The only problem is that there not making them anymore. 1989 was the last year if I'm not mistaken. The Banshee is still alive & holding its own against Y2K atvs. Yahama has continued to produce this machine for the public. Can anyone say that about Honda????
