86 250R for 2000 400EX?
#1
I am consider trading my 2000 400EX for a 86 250R and was wondering if anyone had any input. my 400ex has ac nerfs, jetted, skid plate, new bars, wheels w/ holeshots. other than that it is basically stock.
the 250R is described as:
I HAVE HAD THIS 1986 HONDA TRX250R FOR 3 YEARS AND I BOUGHT IT FROM A WOMAN THAT RODE IT VERY LITTLE. THE QUAD STARTS ON THE FIRST KICK ALMOST EVERY TIME AND SOMETIMES THE SECOND KICK.THE QUAD IS COMPLETELY STOCK WITH A FEW EXTRAS I WILL LIST
NEW SILVER 400EX TIRES AND WHEELS
NEW RENTHAL BARS
GRAYDON NERF BARS
NEW LONESTAR ADJUSTABLE +4 CHROME AXLE WITH BILLET SPROCKET HUB
NEW LONESTAR BILLET DOUBLE ROW AXLE BEARING CARRIER
FMF PIPE AND SILENCER
K&N AIR FILTER
If anyone could offer anything advice i would appreciate it. what are the best years for a 250R? i do like my 400ex, but find it lacking power in the dunes. thanks again

If you ride mainly in the dunes go for it, you can't beat a two-stroke in the sand. Of course you need to check it out and ride it before you trade.
I'm thinking of doing the opposite, trading my 250r for a 400ex. For the kind of terrain we have here in Florida and my age, my R just beats the stink out of me, it's just a mission to hold on. In going to try going to some softer tires and a few low end mods, but if it is still to much I'm going to start looking for a 400ex.
