DG makes a steel nerf for a lot of quads. I believe they only run around $70. Might check them out.

Tom..
Making your own nerfs uh ?? There is nothing like some personal customization.. I made a set of aluminum nerfs for my 300ex. It was a fairly simple task.. I just took some measurements and made some bends.. I went to a auto repair shop that had a exhaust tube bender. A manual one would work. I made to bracket that mounted using the same two holes that mount the foot pegs. I spent a couple night in the rocking chair sewing up my webbing (my wife has some good pics of that). I used tie-down straps (the wider ones).
They lasted almost two-seasons. I need to come up with a better sewing method.. I think using a sewing machine might last longer..
I will work on getting some pics for yea..

It is easy for people to say to go out and buy things.. They have no clue of anyone else's personal money situation. i make anything I can to save some money !!

If you go to just about any good fabric store they will have the material to make the webbing. I have a friend that have made some bars for the Raptor when it 1st came out and this is how he mad the webbing. I copied the James Lucky nerf's pattern for the R and then made a set for my 400. All of the bars for the 400 are the box style and I wanted the angle like the Lucky's.but they don't for some reason make a set for the 400.

Thanks for the reply. Yes some don't have the money. Or maybe they don't want to spend there time trying to make things. I like to putter a little. And we have 4 ATV'S in the household. And yes money does play a big role. We just got the oldest boy a TRX-250X.and o boy what a learning cure this has been. We are still putting money into it to make it right. And that is part of the reason we are trying to cut some corners a little. And sometimes doing things like this for your kids means more then buying them everthing. The time you spend sometimes means more then the money. Thanks again for the replies.

Tom..
Fabric store is probally a good idea.. Just make sure you get strong enough material.. I just went through my files and I can't find my drawings of the nerfs. I can hand sketch some quick fo ryou if you like.. I used 1.5 Dia. 6061 aluminum tubing. and two steel brackets. (custom made) My plans should work for your 250x, I made mine for a 300ex.
Email me your email, or fax#, or even a mailing address if you like..
Talk to you later...

People tend to underestimate the abilities of those of us who like to fabricate things at home. With my MIG welder and my tubing notcher, I have been able to make all kinds of things at home that most people pay big money for.

People also tend to forget that most commercially available products are the end result of something someone first made at home in their garage or shop.
