I just got a 2002 300EX. I weight about 175-180. The suspension for the front and rear are set for #2 position out of 1-5. What is a good setting for someone my size? I find I need a stiffer suspension than the #2 setting. What is the easiest way to twist the suspension level on the spring??? The fronts aren't TOO bad to do but I tried the rear and it would not even budge. There was too much tension from the spring for me to twist it up a few notches. Anyone know what is the best tool to use and what's the BEST way to turn the level on the spring? HELP!!! I was sooo frustrated last night trying to do it. They mention the suspension adjustment a very little in the manual. They say you can do it but don't realy tell you how.

You will need to get a spring adjustment tool, it is a spanner wrench, it looks like a curved hook with a tooth on the end on a handle, the curved part grabs the notch on your shock nut/base, and you pull the handle to raise/lower the tension on the spring. I don't know why the factory tool kit doesn't carry one, they are very necessary part of suspension set up. For your weight, I would go with the third notch on the setting, should give you a good ride like that.

For the fronts I jack it up with a small car jack to release pressure and put a large nail in those little holes on the adjuster then turn till I get it to the right possession for the back I just put a pair of channel locks on those teeth then once again just hold on and turn. As far as what load you should have the springs on I change mine all the time If Im going to hit big jumps I tighten the load for fast forgiving trail riding I make it softer. If you cant figure out what load you want it on just try them all and pick whichever one you feel comfortable with.

The suspension should rely on what kind of riding you are doing.
If you plan on going to the track and gettin some big air you are better off on setting 4 or 5.
In the trails with small or medium jumps, 3 should be just right for your size.
