Nope one is a 4-stroke and the other is a 2-stroke one was made in the late 80's and the 250ex is new and is a beginner quad. Also the 250r is a badass quad for racing and the 250ex is good for teaching the kids on how to ride.Oh yeah the 250ex is an auto clutch and the 250r is a 6-speed manual transmission. And last the 250r is alot lighter than the 250ex also sorry you guys if I forgot anything cause I know I forgot alot of other things.

They are completely different machines.... just as a Yamaha breeze is different than a polaris 500HO.

If it is the older 250X you are reffering too.... they are STILL completely different machines. The 250R was designed to be fast, to be light and agile... and to be a racer.

The X is a 4 stroke, fun little trail machine.

Hope I helped. -Matt
