TRX 300
#1
Hi All!!
I am brand new to this forum, found it by accident.
I just bought a 1988 TRX 300, in nearly mint condition, an old man had it, and the skid plates aren't even scratched. I am looking for a lift kit for it, but no one lists one. Does anyone have info where to get one? Was there even one made for this model? Is this model able to be lifted? I know this is a lot of questions, but i am new to ATV-ing, and I don't want to chase my tail if this model can't be lifted. Thank you in advance.

Hey there. Welcome aboard.
Your's must be a 2 wheel drive.
There is not a lift kit available for your model because your model uses a MacPherson strut system rather than A-arms. Honda didn't start using the A-arms on the 300 2WD until 1993. The 4x4s always had the A-arms and the kits for these models also fit the '93-up 2WD.
The lift kits do nothing but move the location of the shock mounts.
To lift yours, you will have to manufacturer something yourself. I would start by looking at a spacer between the top of the struts and strut mounts. You will have to leave the bottom of the struts alone because the lower portion is actually used to help stabilize the quad because it serves as the only mounting point for the single A-arm.
Good luck

I did think about this, and have the ability/equipment to do it. Can you give me any tips or advise to do it? Have you seen one done before? If I lift the front, will it throw the caster/camber out for the front wheels? Yes, it is 2-wheel drive.

Sorry, but No, I haven't done this myself, nor have I seen one lifted.
I was just giving you an idea based on what i know of the design. There would be no way to lift it and not change the camber/castor and there is no way to adjust it on this model. I would start by just "sticking" something between the strut and upper mount and look at how it sits before permanently making something.
