My friend has a 87' 250r that is completly stock other than a K@N filter w/ no airbox and a boysen rad valve. We have taken the carb apart and cleaned it and tried adjusting it. It stopped idling after he put the filter on. Anyone have any ideas on what to try.

we re jetted the main jet but I don't think that has anything to do with the idling.

Try adjusting the air screw mixture, If your pilot is pretty close it should be 1 3/4 turns out. I run a 48 pilot at 2500ft.

fire the bike up and keep it running with the throttle, just enough to keep it running, while doing this, you or better yet, have a freind spray carb cleaner around all the intake boots to the carbs, if it rev's up on it's own, it's got a air leak, this will cause it not to idle also.....worth a shot, it's cheap.
