I am wondering if there is any chain lube out there that actually stays on the chain. I am currently using "Belray" and after a few rides my swingarm and rear shock are plastered with goop. Not to mention the carb, battery and just about everything else. WD40 seems to clean up the mess pretty good, but it is a pain to keep it clean. The chain kinda gets goopy looking too after a while. So can anyone recommend a better lube or do I have to live with this annoyance?

The pro honda hp brand works good for me. it dries like maxima chain wax and doesn't come off till you wash it.

I've tried three different kinds of chain lube, and I don't think ANY of them penetrate the o-rings, but most of them do make a fine mess of the swingarm. I now use nothing but Maxima Chain Wax.

No oil is going to make it past the O ring.. The lube is sealed inside.. oil just attracts dirt and wears the chain even faster. Just use a little WD 40 to keep the rust away. Or maybe just a tad of lube in non-dusty areas

Stick with Gordon on this one ,The Maxima chain wax is one of the best products I have ever used it will reduce your adjustments and the wear on the chain. I even use it on my Farm equipment now ,its great on planter chains.

I tried Maxima Chain wax for a while. It really sticks to the chain. I found that it hermetically seals the previous application and the particles that are embedded in it, onto the chain. I went to clean the hardened gumbo off my chain and lo and behold, the 400EX has no master link. I spent an hour or so with a tooth brush and cleaner trying to scrub the stuff off of the chain. Not to fun, or successful.
Now, I use silicone spray from the local hardware store. I spray it on before every ride. Or, if I am on an all day adventure at the dunes or mines, I shoot some on whenever I get back to camp or truck.
