when i crank my rancher sometimes it idels high and then sometimes when i let off the gas it idels so low it cuts off. the choke is also stuck. if its running at a low rpm and i pull the choke then push it back in it wont idel back low again. how do i fix this. how hard is it to lube the cable? could this be the problem. im going to try to adjust the idel on it to see what it does. but i dont know about the choke. has anyone else had this problem? how did you solve it? i have 5200 VERY hard miles on my rancher so im not too surprised.

Sounds to me like your chake cable and/or the choke plunger is causing all your problems.

The choke cable is the first thing to go bad on the Ranchers. They run about $12.00 for the entire cable assembly including the ****.

Also check the plunger assembly while you have the cable out of the carb. If the corrosion isn't bad, you can lube it up, but if not, you will have to buy the plunger kit which runs about $40.00

Don't loose the spring when you take it apart. The spring and other small parts are only sold in the kit.
