how much faster and how much horsepower do these kits add foundf a 1999 400ex for sale with filter 440 kit nerfs e series exsaust bumper and skids hd clutc for $4400 is this a good buy

 

I would have to say that isn't that great a buy for a 400EX with those mods. If you don't believe me check out ebay. 400EX's don't seem to sell very high even the highly modified ones aren't selling for much. At a guess that 99 with those mods should sell for around $3800, unless it is in incredible condition. The mods you listed probably cost about $1200 new.

 

I was interested in getting the 440 kit on my EX so i talked to my local engine shop and he said they don't give much more HP but they do give a ton of torque. he told me about some friends of his one had the 440 and a bunch of engine work and the other a high compresion piston and new cam and a couple of other things done. they raced(drag) and the guy without the 440 won.

Steve you need to talk to Dewey at Mountain High Motorsports. His girlfriends 440 runs like a raped APE. He built it and it's been Honda tough...We're hitting the dunes this Sat the 17th if you want to hook up. We'll be in the first loop on the right at Oasis camprounds....440's run well when built correctly...

 

hey sandgod i did talk to dewey. he is the one that told me that. he said they are still very reliable and produce tons of torque but not tons of horsepower. maybe i missunderstood him though. I am heading out to the dunes on friday night and staying till sat. afternoon. will probobly be staying at sand mtn though. I want to camp at white sands or oasis because of the shade but my friend is driving and he will only camp at sand mtn. but if you see a yellow 400ex(mine) blue banshee with t-5's and a little blaster cruzin around together that is probobly us.
