okay ive done decided that im not gonna be able to get a new quad as soon as i want. so im gonna have to do with what i have. And I've decided that I am gonna play with the little 250ex motor for ***** and giggles. I am wanting to get a high comp piston. probably 11:1 compression. and I saw web cams make a cam for it now. just a mild all around came. What do you guys think I should get first? they are each about the same price range and I cant afford both right now. which one would make the most difference. the piston? and is there any other things i could do to this little motor? this is about all ive seen for aftermarket.

I dont want anybody flaming this and telling me I need a bigger quad and its a waste of money. Im tired of people in forums bashing 250ex's. in my experience this quad reacts really well to mods. its not ever gonna be a monster I understand. but I want to see what all I can get out of it. honestly Im not expecting a lot. but be nice if it did wake it up a bit.

still early on the 250ex's. buying the filter and pipe is a sure bet but i'm waiting for more options. i figure when the graphic kits come out its time to start on the engine. at one time i asked mickey dunlop about head work and he said he could build me a piston for more power. i did a follow up and he said only 1 size high compression piston was available so i said f it and will wait for a straight answer. hopefully the parts will start coming.

 

PRO Circuit already has a grafic kit out for it. but yeah. FST told me that they have a 11:1 comp piston.

 

guess i'll be looking for pro circuit website.

 

I just went to their website and now i cant find it. I found it on there before but now its not there. they used to have one for the red 250ex. now all they have listed on there for honda is the 400ex. but their site always has problems. get their number and give them a call if you want one. but they are really pricey.

but can anybody help me with the first qeustion? any ideas on what to do to make my little 250ex have more power and torque?

 

MY COUSIN HAS A 250EX AND THEY ARE THE EASIEST FOURWHEELER TO CATWALK. YOU JUST WOULDNT BELIEVE. THEY DONT HAVE A CLUTCH ON THEM THAT IS THE ONLY THING I DO NOT LIKE, BUT ALL THE REST IS GOOD TO ME. THEY RIDE PRETTY GOOD FOR THE POWER THAT THEY HAVE. I CAN GET IT UP IN THIRD GEAR JUST SITTING ON IT. TOP SPEED IS AROUND 55.

 

I can wheelie it in 4th gear no problem. my friend which is a lot bigger (260lbs) can get it to wheelie starting in 5th no problem. they are a great wheelie machine.

But I was wondering if anybody on this forum have done any internal motor work on a 250ex yet? I really want to do this. I will be getting a bigger faster quad soon but that doesnt mean Im getting rid of my 250ex. I will always have it in my garage. its just too fun. so nobody tell me that im wasting my money. if i am i will find out the hard way. i really want something faster. and anything i can get for now will help. im also gonna widen it. its to damn tippy. putting 20" tires on the rear and 21" on the front helped a lot but still to tippy. all my buddies have recently switched to 2 strokes. I have 3 250R's in my group. 2 lt250R's, 1 lt500R, and a few blasters. but I really like 4 strokes. thats why im hoping that honda puts there 450 in a quad. that way I know I could keep up. skill wise I could probably out ride them. cuz its 95% rider and 5% machine. well my machine just cant take it. I can keep up but barely. I think if I can make it handle better and get a little more juice out of it i could actually keep up with most of them. except the 2 friends that moto on the honda 250R's THEY CAN RIDE. sorry i typed so much. i was bored and wanted to talk about fourwheelers. my buddy just came over with his lt250 he just got and we rode around here on my farm.

but somebody let me know if you know of anybody that has internal motor mods to their 250ex. thanks.
