As much as I hate to get into a good debate between two friends in the Yamaha and Honda dept,I would just like to say the auto works awesome for plowing snow or pulling anything. Why do you think that the auto's have won so many sled pull offs? That back to back thing would be interesting though, providing that someone had enough guts to do it.Also in the mud you always have the right power to the tires because the pulleys decide that for ya,while the shifter could hit the mud in high gear, and then be stabbing away at the shifter to find the proper gear while the auto goes blowing by.

As much as I hate to get into a debate with fellow Yamaha,Honda Men,I'd just like to say that the automatic works great for plowing,or pulling anything. Why do you think that the auto's have won so many sled pulls over the years? As for the mud you will always have the right power to the wheels due to the pulleys doing the work for ya,while the shifter could hit a mudhole with momentum and then be stabbing at the shifter to try to find the right gear, while the auto goes blowing by!I would really like to see or hear of someone that had the guts to hook them back to back though?Interesting????

I have a rancher and I love it. It does everything that it is supposed to do.

ok...... I'd like to see a stock 400 foreman that could pull mine around! lets be realistic guys! Mine weighs more, has real 4 wheel drive, and I don't have to shift to build up speed. In my opinion, If I was in low range it wouldn't even be close. ANyway..... for that matter i'd like to see a stock foreman that will do wheelies better tahtn mine too. I have "hopped" over many downed trees and I guarantee that it would have been a lot harder for a foreman. They are a ver solid reliable model bbut they will NEVER out pull, jump, etc. My model.

but back to the topic..... the facts are that

Kodiak: Better cooling, brakes(opinion), power, more reliable shifting, and a nicer ride.

Rancher: Better display, reliability (for what I have seen), egronomics, cheaper, etc.

It all is going to depend if you need the extra cc's and extra horse power. If you have had luck with yamaha in the pas t then go with them. If not then the honda is a wonderful machine and you will be very very happy with either you buy.

Come on now you cant be serious everyone knows Yamaha makes crap and I can say it ,Oh yeah I have a 00 Kodiak and I hate it mainly cause it has way too many problems with it to enjoy to ride. You say maybe I got a lemon well i called Yamaha up and they told me they cant even pay to get it fixed. I was so mad!! Honda may have had a recall on the first 200 Ranchers but they are paying for it. Yamaha cant even do that! Well I spent so much money for this contraption to sit in my garage I cant buy another atv for a long time. When I do it will be a HONDA and you can take that to the bank!

Cartman,i also have ridden the new Kodiak and noticed how badly it vibrates and how noisy that it is.I went to a Yam/Hon dealer to buy a Kodiak and ended up bringing home a Rancher instead.
