Ever since the release of the 400EX, American Honda has been toughting how "if the 400EX is successful, we will be releasing more sport-based models". Yeah, let us hold our breath another year and turn blue from anticipation.

The waiting game with Honda will always be just that- waiting.

I like Honda will be making an important announcement.... to my in-laws on September 12 when they arrive for the extended stay.

I will announce that they shall use the outhouse in the field next to the old abandoned Honda dirtbikes. There not walking through my bedroom in the middle of the night to do there business. Maybe I can knock about 3 to 4 days off there stay. The in-laws are used to something that flushes.

scosho,
Do you have reliable information, or are you going on the story in the latest Dirt Wheels that speculated the same thing? Inquiring minds want to know!

don't call honda a chicken because yamaha didn't drop a YZ426F motor in their sport quad either!! the raptor vs 400EX on the track and in the woods the EX beat it, or at the very least tied it. the raptor (in stock form) is narrower, and taller than the EX (making it feel tippy) do you realize there's more to a quad than a potent motor?? for some of you i think that's the case, and mabey you don't need good handling. For example dune ridding requires A LOT of power, and not so much handling. But duning isn't that big of a section of the market.

I REALLY HOPE THAT HONDA RELEASES A KILLER QUAD, JUST TO SHUT UP ALL YOU NON-BELIEVERS!!!!!!!!

The raptor is not tippy. I don't know who started that but they should be banned. The 400ex is tippy too, in the woods. Go extreme enough and anything will tip over.

Yamaha may not have put the YZ426 in a quad (but Gas Gas did!!) But at least they had the ***** to put a 660 in a quad & they are still making a 2 stroke quad!!!

Honda=Chicken!!!!

So do I. I've probably ridden more Hondas in my life than any other manufacture & I know what they can do.
If they just will do it!

Aparently you've never been to the dunes on a big weekend!!
At Little Sahara, OK there are a couple of hundred quads on an off weekend & a thousand or more on the big weekends.
We get over a hundred quads every race at the sand drags.
If duning isn't that big of a section of the market it's certanly the fastest growing. & Handling is a big part of duning. Have you ever done a tree shot?

I waited an extra year before getting my Raptor because my Honda dealer said that Honda might come out with the 650 in a quad.
I got tired of waiting for Honda & got the Raptor & it's the perfect quad For me & my type of riding!!

well i'm happy for you.

face it duning isn't a big part of the market. obviously a couple thousand isn't a big amount. they sold 500,000 trx300's from '88-'00.

well it is compared to the DS, Z, EX, KXF..........

honda will have the best quad when it comes out. well mabey not against the dale, but guess what they'll out sell them by the thousands. C'dale isn't recogzined in canada, i would like someone to name me one c'dale dealer in canada. i'm not saying there isn't one, but i can't think of one!

Actually, the weekend warrior dune runners are a huge part of the market on the west coast. Not everyone gets out every weekend, or every month for that matter, but alot of people have extra cash laying around that they spend on quad(s) just for dunes.

I didn't know that you knew more about marketing than Bombardier, Polaris, and Cannondale, Rincon... All three of those manufacturers have sport machines that they try to target the dune market with...

Even if dunes wasnt one of the largest marketing area, recreation riding would be, that means woods/and all around fun. So still raptors/z/etc wins over a 400ex, cause there liquid cooled and have reverse and oh ya faster!
