Im buying my wife a 250 ex for our rides at the dunes. i talked to a guy who owned one and he said they were not powerful enough for paddles, im going to put on 20" sand sharks V paddles, i think it will do just fine, if it does not ill regear on tooth down in the front, anyone have this setup, can you make it up most the dunes or what, i used to have a TRX200SX back in the day and it had plenty of power, the 250EX has got to be double what that old thing had.
opinions?

Isn't the 250ex a shaft drive?If so,that might be a project gearing it down.Good luck.

Ok than guys, maybe i wont regear, ill just get a SHAFT REDUCTION, ha ha, well than ill stick with the stock gear ratio, so the question remains, any trouble spinnin 20" V paddles and making it up MOST of the Larger dunes????????????

The 250 does ok in the dunes, but it is mostly ridden by light riders. We run 6-paddle Skat-Trak Edges in back, and Skat-Trak Mohawks in front. All are on ITP rims, which makes the bike about 3" wider in the rear and 2" in front. The bike has a K&N and FMF MegaMax II, so that helps in the power department. I always prefer the BUFFED DOWN sand tires because they are lighter, and you need all you can get in the sand.

I used 20" Sand Sharks on my 250EX and I could go anywhere at Little Sahara. Had to get a running start at the bigger dunes, but made it up with no problem.

you could always get a big bore kit for the 250ex from powroll. their site is www.powroll.com. i dont have one (my 250ex is piped and jetted), but i've heard good things about the kit
