400ex frames
#2
Can't get many replies about such a topic in here. At least someone admits/recognizes the need for a better frame. So to you I pass on what little golden info I have....
I know Arens Brothers Inc. makes bare chromoly 250R frames for around $1,500 + shiping.(not a bad $) I was told they also made 400EX frames since they were similar. I don't know this to be true for sure or the price and website. But, it's worth a shot at that price. (most run $2,500)
I think you'll still need a set of a-arms and a swingarm to "bulletproof" it. Maybe they'll have those too. HOPE I HELPED!!

Arens frames are built from heavy wall chromoly tubing which makes the frame as heavy or heavier than stock(weight wise)but much stonger.while other companies use thin wall chromoly tubing which produces a lighter and equaly strong frame as stock but will fatige faster and crack due to the stress at the weld. when you take a very riged piece of thin wall tubing and butt weld another piece to it the tubing will not flex and it will crack at the weld. but if you use heavier tubing there is more area to weld to and it will not crack around the weld. also if you use mild steel material it will be heavier and not as stiff which if your the best rider in the world you might notice a handling difference but will flex and not stress the area around the weld.i hope this makes sense, and when you buy a frame you get a bare frame.
