Hey I've kept my 400EX all stock and really never had the desire to do any performance mods. I have a CBR F4i and has a bunch of mods on her, but didn't know if it makes a difference on the Quads. Do you notice a lot more torque/power with either diff sprockets and/or exhaust? I always figured since it was to be ridden hard and really don't care how she looks, I never cared about how she looked... but just curious to hear your take.

Thanks.

Mods can make a huge difference on quads but, a mod is only as necessary as you make it. If you don't have the desire to mod your quad, then it probably isn't necessary. There are probably more people who tune and mod their quads as part of the hobby than people who do it because they actually NEED more power.

I gave up modding when it went out of style in the 70's.

I am complete stocker now. The money I don't spend on modding I spend on the next quad or dirtbike.

Hey mods do make a diff...
I put the KN power kit,pro circuit t4 slip on, and one tooth smaller on the front spocket,,, it made a big differance,
I kept asking everyone, will I notice the diff.... Yup I did...
go for it , you wont be dissapointed.
chow
ps,, just added the front scoops , for cooling, dont know if they help or not,,,

Everyone talks about smaller sprocket up front and maybe adding a tooth in the rear. I remember doing this as a kid on my bicycle... I guess same concept. I think it would add more power and quickness, but top speed would be less right? On street bikes, I didn't do this because didn't want it to mess up my speedometer, but on a quad, it would be ok. Do you notice engine reving and running different?

Lost a little top end,, can hardly notice, gives it a little more snap on the bottom end.. every little change helps a little bit,, put them all together and its a big differance.
