can anyone tell me if 400EX shocks will work on a 300EX without having to change anything like the mounting position and would i have more wheel travel?

No, the front & rear shocks are much longer on the 400EX,but my sponsor did convert a 250X front shock mounts to accept 250R shocks. There is even a conversion kit sold by some companies. But the rear shock on a 300EX is a no-link vs a link suspension on the 400EX. Thus 400EX rear shocks would never work on a 300EX due to longer length and different damping for the different leverage applied throught the link set-up. And the fronts also never will work unless you move the shock mounts on the frame and a-arms.

Where ya been? I am trying to get info on racing at Cedar Rapids. I think the first race is on April 15? I have a bone stock 400ex with AC Propegs. What do I need to race there? Kill switch? AMA membership? Help.

Yep, the first race is on the 15th. Yes its an AMA sanctioned track, they also usually want you to have a district card also. For the quad you need nerfs, kill switch, and numbers. I'm #80 in the A class. It will be interesting, I will be racing against several Leagers, Lonestars, and a Roll Design Lobo quad, and all those riders have many more years of racing experience than me and they all are running all the nationals. But I am building a new quad also, a YZ400F powered 400EX, so it should be as fast as my 330R. If you know of anyone looking for a '98 Yamaha YZ400F chassis or parts, let me know. My e-mail is Sickman_80@usa.net if you want to ever contact me.
