Hey everyone, I own a 2000 Yamaha Big Bear 400 4X4 and I love my machine, but a lot of my friends have 400EX's and Banshee's and I have decided to trade my quad in for a sport type. I've narrowed my options to a 400EX or Banshee and I wanted to get your opinions on the two quads. I've ridden both and I like them both, but I just can't decide. I don't care about the no reverse deal, I mostly trail ride and I enjoy jumping and climbing hills. I was leaning towards the Banshee, but I don't know if I want a 2-stroke. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

Kyle

I would go with the honda. You have electric start and the four stroke will be way more dependable. You wouldn't have to worry about fouling plugs if you just wanna take it easy. Well I would get the 400ex. later

If your friends have both, test ride them both. I have a friend that has a Banshee and it is the fastest bike of the group (out in the open and in a drag race)but on trails or on a track, he can't quite keep up if we "race". It depends on what you want. The 400ex is smoother and easier to ride, the Banshee you have to kick start, but the power is different and more fun. It just depends on where you ride and what you want. Both are good, but in some applications, one is better than the other. If I had the money, I would own a Banshee, too.

I'm fortunate enough to have both a Banshee and a 400EX. You are fortunate to have friends that have both. I'd test ride them more until you decide. For me, the 400EX is allot easier to ride than the Banshee. I ride in the woods and have had to do lots of mods to the Banshee to adapt this quad to the woods, but I love it. There is nothing like the power of the Banshee and the thrill it gives me. The 400EX is fun too, but it's not the same. If I were in your position I'd try and wait to see the new sport quad that Yamaha has officially announced. It will most certainly use the YZ motor which produces almost double the horse power of the 400EX. That should give you the best of both worlds. If you can wait, I couldn't.
