Did I hear Louisiana bogs. Well down south, most of the people put K&N Air Filters to increase some of the horse power and also jet kits. I know what you mean with the tires. With stock ones, the bike seems to have alot of pep, but put it in a bind and it becomes very weak. Contact High Lifter at [www.highlifter.com] and they have alot of things to chose from that shouldn't void you warranty. Happy Mudding.

I put a Supertrapp IDS pipe and muffler on my 1999 TRX300FW, and it made a world of difference, the engine runs much stronger now. I also put a Dyno Jet jet kit in it at the same time. A couple of weeks later I installed a K & N Filter and it helped out as well. Installing them was pretty easy, just follow the directions that come with the parts. I'm pretty happy with the mods I'v made.

If you use only the stock foam air filter, and leave out the metal backfire screen that fits inside the air filter, I think you'll find that the stock filter works every bit as well as the K&N filter. It's true that the K&N filter flows more air, but the stock filter (w/o the backfire screen) flows more than enough (the 300 and the 450 use the same air filter). Using a K&N air filter on a Honda 300 is like giving someone $20 to pay a $10 debt. Sure, it'll cover the debt, but it's way more than what's needed.

I have a K&N filter that fits my 300 and my 450, but once I quit using the metal backfire screen inside the stock filter, I see no performance difference betwen the two filters on EITHER machine.

My 300 has a Powroll 313cc Big Bore kit (I love it!). My 450 has the Highlifter High Performance kit (I like it), and the Highlifter 466cc Big Bore kit (I hate it).
