What size Jet to use on 300EX????
#1
What size jet do you guys recommend for a 95 300EX with DG Chrome Lite Pipe and K&N Filter and Stock Air Box unmodded. It has some small amounts of stalling when you sometimes get on the throttle hard. I believe its a tad to lean which makes it cut out. I just need to make sure the correct size jet is in place.
Thanks

There is no standard size for any given mods,it can vary from motor to motor. The best thing to do is either a plug chop, take a fresh plug and do a hi speed run, then cut the motor and check the color, but this only sets top end. A stumble off idle is either the pilot or the needle setting, you need to get it all set.A quick way I use to set up all 3,low,mid,and top is like this: Top end- go up 1 or 2 sizes, since you did pipe and filter it,and do a high speed run, does it skip or surge on the top? no,go up on jets until it does, then drop 1,if yes, drop 1 size at a time until it stops. Now top end should be good. Low end- warm it up,run up to 3rd gear, then let it coast, does it pop back through the exhaust? yes, turn the idle mix out 1/4 turn and retest and adjust until it stops. No pops, should be ok. Midrange- get above 1/4 throttle and hit it,bog then surges? too rich, raise the needle clip a notch and retest. If you get a slower doggy response, you are lean, drop the clip and retest. This is what works for me,every motor has it own little quirks,it may get you close,or maybe right on, the best indicator is you,and how it seems to you.Hope this helps out.
