300ex

I have a 2002 300ex with pipes, jet kit, k&n air filter and other thing like bumper and tires. It still does not have enough power. Do any of you think it is worth putting a full 313 big bore or full 330 big bore in it or is it just a big waste of money and it doesn't do much. If you have anything to say please responed.

Im going to have to agree with chet on this one, now once you find the power you want, next will be the suspension, than the axel, then this and that. You are better off just keeping it relaitively stock to when you save enough money to sell and get a new quad. Remember once you get the 330 kit, you could go higher for more power but your getting higher and higher from stock and that will sometime come in result of losing reliability. Their really is just so far you can go with a 300, save up for a bigger machine you will like it better in the long run.

I ran into the same delema. But as save up for or buy another quads are such effortless words to put out, lets look at the facts.
I'll give you what my perdickament is and was.
Paid 4100 for my lakota, throw in the TTL and you have about 4500., now go trade in the lakota, they only want to give 2500 for it. Now it isn't even fully broke in at this point. So here's 2K loss out of my pocket (father of 5, all kids have quad/bike)
Excellent, KFX400 is out, 5600......TTL out the door, probably 6K.
So here it is, 8500 out my big old butt because I got the wrong darn quad. HUH, daddy isn't that stupid nor rich.
So dump me about 1500 in the one I have, alot more fun now. Is it the one I want yet, no. But it will more than do untill I can realy afford going down and bending over so my dealer can exersice his love of running one up in me.
So if you ask me who has and stiil does have a 330, yah it was well worth it.
Now if you ask me if I was there the day the quad was bought, yes totally different quad would be at the house. Infact I probably would have no quad because I wasn't looking to sell my bike at the time. But my wife with the monting hospital bills figured a quad fits the age.
So here I am

I wished I wouldn't have sold our 1999 300EX now. Even though it was down on power, in second and third gear on the woods trails around here you could go through there at a pretty good clip. The stock gearing for those type of situations was nice. It was out on the rock roads where the 300ex would get a little twitchy at speed and then passed by more powerful quads

I had a 98 300ex that was a great bike. I sold it for $2500. I probably could have got more for it though as I see them going for around 2900. Now I'm seeing used 400ex's going cheap. I've seen them for less than 3500 all stock in great shape.
So I guess it depends what the market is like in your area. If you can sell your 300ex for a good price, and upgrade to a good used 400ex for less than $1000, then I would sell and get a 400ex. If not, then go for mods. Another thing to remember is that you usually don't get your money back for the mods when selling your bike. So if you decide to mod it, you better plan on keeping it for a while.
