400EX head

Default 400EX head

i need to take the head off my 400ex. do i have to do anything special before taking it off??

Default 400EX head

Well, just to make the job easier on you, take off the front plastic, gas tank, and anything else that's in the way. (kind of a general statement, but it makes things easy). I usually put mine up on an atv lift jack (for adj. valves) and remove the front tires too. Then clean everything up really good. You don't want dirt or other things dropping in after you take the head off. Get a good, clean, lint-free rag to cover things up after you remove the head. OH, and make sure you've got some sort of manual with torque specs in it.
