I keep hearing that if you ride the dunes alot you need to change your oil after every ride, it that true?
I have even heard every two rides.
Sounds reasonable, due to fine sand maybe?
Oh well another newb questions for the experts!
By the way you guys rock and always give reliable feed back!!!!
Thanks for the help!

You definatly cant hurt anything by changing the oil too often, but no, you do not need to change the oil that often i do clean and re-oil the k&N after every sand dune ride cause it picks up alot, but when you cleaning the fliter and have it off, go back to where the filter mounts and rub a paper towel in the inside of the tube going to the carb or the carb lip itself if you have a direct filter on the carb, if you get ANY sand dust or particles, you may want to change the oil cause it was getting past the filter, that is the only way for sand to get in there so if it checks clean your oil is good to go!

For what i spent on my bike, $25 is not alot to change the engine oil, trany oil and a filter. I do it every 3rd ride and b4 every big trip.
I like my oil to come out as somth as it went it. In the sand your bike revs higher more often so stuff is grinding more. change it more then often.

For when you clean off your filter, use gas!!!! My friend bought an 01 blaster used so its always good to do all maintnence. My dad is a mechanic so he offered to do some free of charge. He said to clean the air filter with soap and water first then to give it too him. We did that and then we gave him the filter. Too my shock he used gas!!! I asked him if you would need to wash it off after and he said no it will just evaporate out. After that it looked clean enough to eat off of. The he put on oil and my friend was ready to go. Just some advice if you clean your filter.
