Got a bone stock '01 for my wife (and me)! Do these all have red saddles? What is the best pipe, intake mods, airbox work, rev limiter, plastic skidplate, swingarm skidplate, bars, whatever? What are you running, how do you like it? Thanks and Happy Halloween.

i don't think your really going to get that much more hp out of a auto clutch 250ex 4stroke tho with a pipe

Powroll has a 2mm bore kit that comes with a high compression piston, and a different exhaust rocker for about $300. They claim it increases horsepower by about 25%. they also say a good aftermarket exhaust will add an additional 8 to 9% to their kit. I have a bone stock 250 myself, but have been told by numerous people that the pro circuit T-4 is a good exhaust for the 250.

Even though it's not on the site 4 stroke tech still has the the 250ex engine kit it includes.

11:1 comprssion piston 20 cc's biger
full supertrap race exhaust
jet's
air filter
spark plug

I think that's it he doesn't make any hp claims but I'm sure if you e-mailed him or called him he could tell you what to expect out of it.

 

I don't want to throw water on the fire but I just don't feel like the money spent on modifying the 250 ex is worth it.

Lets say you spend 500 dollars on the 250EX, a stock 300ex will still be a better machine.

Then when you go to sell or trade in the machine they give you nothing for the add on's.

I always feel like its better to become the best rider on the machine you have at present and as your skills improve purchase a better machine.

If you have really deep pockets and want mods forget what I have just written and go for it.

Here's some mods we've done on our 2001 250EX:

Custom endcap - removes spark arrestor and flows more
Uni filter
Opened up the air intake tube - breathes MUCH better
110 main jet
20" rear tires off a 400EX

These mods greatly improve performance and it will easily run with a stock 300EX. My 9 year old Son loves it!

We also have Shockwears and a black seat off a 2002 250EX.

What do you figure the cost of the modifications were besides adding the 20" rear tires off a 400EX?

Your modifications seem to be very cost effective or monies well spent.

RAPTORYFM660r--- Chet... We all hear your arguement for the 300ex and your right, no one is going to say its not a better all round machine with YOU or ME on IT. BUT, he said it was for him and his WIFE, and thus is the reason his and MY WIFE have 250ex,(and here is why it is a better machine to us) REVERSE, NO CLUTCH....... If my wife wanted a faster bike than she could ride my DS650, but she chooses no clutch anyday, and while she is comforatble on her auto clutch bike and we can make it a bit faster , than that would be great, bring on the mods, HOWEVER it would be much cheaper to mod up a 250ex to the speed of a stock 300ex , THAN the price to throw in the Autotrans in the 300ex. Now i hope you have some insite on why we want to hop up or 250EX's.
