I clipped a stump very hard today on my 400ex and the bars shot back and hit me in the knee. When I got off to check my rims they werent bent. When i move the tire sideways there a little bit of play in the top ball joint. Also if I lift up hard on the top a-arm the a-arm will move up slightly, and the other ball joint doesnt do this. I didnt check before to see if i already had that problem so i dont know if the stump did it or not. The bolt on the botton side of the ball joint is tight. Is this a problem that needs to be fixxed immediately, if i ride anymore will the ball joint break and my wheel fall off? Thanks.

If hittin that stump didnt do it i wouldnt think so, all u can do is ride it a little and see if it gets worse, if it doesnt give it a few small jumps check it if its ok then do a nice one and see what happens, dunno what else to tell ya-

I would take the ball joint loose from the spindle and see how much free movement is in the ball joint. If there is I would recommend replacing it asap. If you have stock a-arms you will have to buy the complete a-arm which is about $70 for the upper a-arm and around $47 for the lower a-arm. At least you didn't do what I did. I hit a tree, bent the right side a-arms and ripped them out of the frame. I had to have my frame welded and I had to buy new a-arms. I bought extended a-arms which I like a lot, but right now I am replacing the delron(plastic) bushings with some brass ones my friend and I are making.
