400EX jetting results
#1
I bought the Dynojet kit for my bike. I am planning on a pipe soon when the FMF is out.. But since I had the kit sitting around I had to tinker. I put in the dynojet needle on 3rd notch and a 155 main jet. No air lid, trimmed silencer, stock filter. The stock jet was 148. I think that 3.5 turns out on the air mix sounds like a bit much, stock was .5-.75 out. I will get a flex carb tool and adjust it. Man did that make a diffrence! I had to recognise the new torque and wheelie power. I could do everything a gear higher. 3rd gear was not so easy to pull up before but now it walks up just like 2nd used to do. I can't imagine what a pipe and more fuel will do.. I know I am looking for some more trouble now.

Ahh
It's not that hard. Just remember, The more fuel and air you push in the more exaust you have to let flow out. Carbs and pipes walk hand in hand.
You get the right mix of both, It will feel almost twice as powerfull as stock.
Pilot=42
dyno needle= third notch
170 main jet
stock filter
Holes in air box lid
LRD pipe and header
That's about as far as you can push that stock carb.other than that get a yz400f carb.
later..........

I believe your talking about the pilot jet, located under a pressed in plug.
I think you are right, It does not come in the kit.
We just drilled it out from a factory 38 to a 42, It's been a while since we did it.........................
